Poem of Identity

Poem of Identity

I need no longer hold to my pride
For there is nothing left to defend or hide.
Every evil, every failure mine
Is a memory of a different life

I need never be offended
By the hate that’s shown
for a life that’s ended

And the truth will be proven
by the fruit of a new heart given

Love those that hate
For it’s only my pride
that can be offended

And offence only comes
When I am fighting
to justify myself

But that self does not need
to be justified.
It has already died

I am a new man
The old has gone.
The righteousness of God has come
And it is by faith from first to last

Faith that the old has gone
And the new has come
